I’ll be Tabling at Rose City Comic Con

I’ll be at table I-41. So if you are in the Portland area September 11th-13th, come grab some werewolf comics from me!

Rose City is my last con of the year. After that I plan to not go anywhere and catch up on stuff. But I’m still doing my usual.

On Saturdays at 11 am PST, I usually watch a movie in my discord. They are all movies I haven’t seen. Anyone can pop in and watch along. This month we are watching:

  • September 12 – No movie because I’m at Rose City
  • September 19 – Rocky Horror Picture Show
  • September 26 – The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

Pop in with this link.

I’ll also be streaming on these dates and times:

  • Tuesday at 7pm – 10pm PST – Art times
  • Wednesday at 7pm – 9pm PST – Art times
  • Sunday at 8pm – 10pm PST – Disco Elysium

Join me on my twitch!

Worldcon was a lot of fun. I think the panels I moderated went well. In particular, Colleen Doran was on my Science Fiction/Fantasy comics panel and had a lot of really interesting stuff to say about making comics. I also attended some cool panels. There was a fascinating one super dense future cities. The panelist has a wide variety city planners and engineers. One guy talked about how he used a double piping system to recycle the water in his building, so he cut his water bill in half. And that a lot of the tech to make a hyper dense city that isn’t miserable already, it is just more expensive. If you were at Worldcon, it was recorded. I’d recommend giving it a watch.

Also, while walking around I saw George RR Martin. After I told him I liked Dunk and Egg a gal who I assume was an assistant or handler, gave me a Bravos coin. I want to try and go to Worldcon in Montreal next year and hopefully Brisbane, Australia the year after. The little koala at the top of the newsletter was something being given out to promote the year it will be in Australia.

Now that I’m home, I got to focus on writing the next City Between story. However, I am not as far as I want to be with the script. So I might need to take a break from The City Between when Glass Diamonds is over. I got some anthologies I’m doing stories for. So I’ll post those on my patreon instead of The City Between pages.

Speaking of my patreon, a few months ago, I asked what people would like as patreon extras that don’t involve me drawing more. Several people liked the idea of a graphic novel book club. I’ve put up a poll where patreon backers can pick between Finder, Concret, Witch Hat Atelier, and 20th Century Boys. We will start reading the winner in October.

Getting caught up after San Diego Comic Con and then getting a little ahead for Worldcon, didn’t leave me much time to watch new stuff. But the day before Dolly Parton died Lindsay Ellis posted a great video explaining why Dolly is one of the rare icons that is beloved by everyone. Then when Dolly’s death was announced, Lindsay posted the video on youtube. It is a really good watch and it is raising money for Dolly’s Imagination library.

And in honor of Dolly, my most recent Saturday movie was The Best Little Whore House in Texas. While I think I prefer 9 to 5, it was a really fun time. I especially the scene that introduces the villian. If you haven’t seen it, he talks about some people being phonies that only care about appearances. And while giving this speech he is putting on a griddle to hold in his gut and extra shoulder pads to give him a stronger silhouette. Also the Side Step song is very fun. I will probably always think of the Venture Bros joke where Doc thinks it will be a porno when it comes up.

That’s all have to share this month. Thanks everyone for your support. Have a good one.
