The Summer Lady Aurora is described as 5 foot nothing and hundred nothing. So she’s tiny and thin. But the thin part would mostly be covered by her baggy overalls covered in clay. Since she’s tiny she’d probably have to roll them up. I tried to make her look young so someone would easily think she is the same age as Maeve. So she has big eyes and a round face. Her hair being pulled into a lose braid that still shows it puffing out around her face helps reinforce a rounder feel.
Sorcery 101 is now kickstarting a 750 page Omnibus. It is the first half of the whole series!
I’ve been loving your Dresden sketches, but when I saw this one, something jumped out – when first introduced, the Summer and Winter Ladies are described as physical twins, like their queens, where it’s left to how they dress, hair style, and how they carry themselves that provides the dichotomy of who they are. Between this sketch and Maeve’s, I’m not sure if that is conveyed, especially with the faces.
Otherwise, it’s awesome art, much much better than what I can achieve, and I look forward to checking them out. Dresden Files is a great series (have you read Skin Game yet?)
Well, I have Summer Knight in front of me while drawing all these character designs and I will point out that when Aurora first shows up he doesn’t realize she is the Summer Lady. So maybe a subtle glamor, but he doesn’t immediately compare her to Maeve. And I will say someone who is 5 foot nothing 100 nothing as Aurora is described will not have the tits Maeve is described as having. 😛
