Georgia only gets a brief description in her first scene. She’s tall and willowy wearing dark shorts and a bikini top. She’s described as being most confident than her earlier nerdier appearance in Fool Moon. But since it hasn’t been that long since her being awkward nerdy girl, I went with a bikini that is more about style than showing off all the skin. She’s a foot taller than Billy so I made sure she’s got some long legs. Long enough that by comparison her average style shorts look shorter than they really are. She more calm than Billy clearly younger than Harry. Her height makes her look older so I gave her a buttony nose to fit against that and make her and Billy seem the same age. Also I gave her flip flops because the bikini top and shorts makes me think she wasn’t planning on going anywhere. And flip flops continue the slip on shoes for werewolves thing. Now her wolf up top is clearly skinnier than Billy’s and her’s has longer legs and a longer nose.

Billy Borden is the second character to show up in Summer Knight. Billy’s a college student some I wanted to makes sure he looked younger than Harry, which isn’t hard when Harry looks like shit in the last picture but I wanted him to make sure he’d always look younger than Harry. But the more squared off jaw helps make it so he doesn’t look too much like a teenager. Now Billy shows up on the scene is enthusiastic and confident, calling the raining toads cool. So wanted him to looks overall happy and friendly. He’s got a wide muscular build but is pretty short. When figuring out his body type I ended up going with a picture of an olympic wrestler who had pretty short legs. As for Billy’s clothes, becoming a werewolf made him lose 40-50 lbs of fat so they would be pretty baggy on him (Perfect for easy removed to turn into a wolf). So I just looked up pictures of people in huge T-shirts. His shoes aren’t mentioned at all but I went with slip on shoes to go with his whole easy to change to a wolf set of clothing. And up top I did a small sketch of wolf Billy. Don’t want all the wolves to look the same in silhouette. So Billy’s has a shortish nose to go with the nose I gave human Billy and there is a lot of bulk around the shoulders.

So here we have one Harry Dresden. Hero of the Dresden Files. Now the last book Grave Peril was rough on Harry so this time around he looks like shit. What I did was I first too my old drawing of Harry to use as a starting point. So a lot of the same notes from that apply here as well. Things like Harry’s clothes don’t quite fit because he’s 6’7” and broke. So chances are he can’t afford perfectly fitting clothes. He probably hunched a lot since lots of guys that tall do that. He’s got lean sprinter looking build. Also, his facial features are mostly triangles like the main character of the Maltase Falcone. Jim Butcher used noir novels like that as part of his inspiration for writing Harry, so it makes sense to me to carry that over a little to his appearance.

Now for after working off my Harry from Grave Peril I proceeded to make him look more awful. Harry is described as having bags under his eyes from months of not sleeping well. He hasn’t shaved or cut his hair in months. His hair also has a random patch that is shorter than the rest because it was was burnt off. He also shows up to help Billy without his giant trench coat, and is instead wearing sweatpants and a dirty t-shirt. And then just for fun I added a quick drawing of Harry having a toad fall on him since raining toads is why he was called away from his new hygiene free life style.
