So Surprise and Innocences are big Buffy moments. I thought for Surprise the scene of Buffy’s birthday party with the Judge’s arm coming out of the box. But I think I like the Angel in the rain better.
Then for Innocence I though mI thought maybe Buffy holding a rose that’s thrones are hurting her neck would be some interesting symbolism. Also Buffy sitting quietly alone in Angel’s bed.

Ted is kinda hard without spoiling the reveal. I thought the giant text over the cookies might work, making Ted kinda an over whelming intrusion in Buffy’s life. Then I thought the implied dead body for the the design would be good. It’s big moment in the episode and it can be focused on without spoiling that Ted is a robot.
Bad Eggs I could only think of the one design which is fairly on the nose.
Page 59 – 63
I wanted to keep Morgan’s dreams a topic all through out the book so they aren’t forgot when book 3 rolls around.
I got a lot of siblings and we used to get into fights about who’s turn it was with the playstation so I figured with 9 kids the fight would get even worse. Also this is a good way to draw attention to Billy’s missing tooth. It’s a detail that could be easy to miss.
Page 64 – 69
So here’s Morgan and Billy’s sorta date. I wanted to build up their relationship in a way that wasn’t super romantic but you could understand Morgan fooling around with Billy later. Especially since she isn’t getting much attention or affection from anyone.
Morgan’s conversation with Billy, I wanted to make it clear how depressed she is. And as a teenager she knows shit is bad but doesn’t have the power to control or change it. It also vaguely mirrors the conversation Kimber and Elsie had. But this time the pessimist side is more grim rather than bored and the positive side is more proactive rather than content.
I wanted to imply Billy is getting dreams like Morgans but nicer.
I made sure Morgan smiles at the end of the talk though. So despite their disagreement she is enjoying her time with him. This time she lets him help her up.

This kinda playful flirt rough housing was hard to draw. I needed to make it clear they weren’t actually hurting each other.

I love drawing Elsie being disgusted with people thinking her brother is hot.
Even though Morgan and Billy are starting to like each other I tried to keep them slightly apart whenever Elsie is around. Elsie always has shot gun in the car. That distance between them story wise will be important in the end. I wanted to subtly reinforce that visually.
Some more Buffy title cards. Both of these are the different parts of What’s My Line. Part 1 I thought it would be cool to use Drusilla’s tarot cards placed on the table. The other design I thought it would be nice to tie in the ice skating scene. So having Buffy’s skating marks make the title seems nice.
For part 2 I thought of references the Madonna and holding Christ sculpture which is famous but I forget who made it. There are several shots in the episode that reference it during the church scenes. The other one I wanted to show Buffy and Kendra’s hands readying stakes.

Lie to Me is an episode I really like, but it was kinda hard to think of some imagery for it without giving things away. I did one that is focused on Ford’s smile since his betrayal is key to everything. Then I thought about making the stairs of the basement they are stuck in ominous.
The Dark Age I thought maybe the demon in Jenny grabbing on to Gile’s shoulder while taking comfort in him would be good. The other is Gile’s glasses broken and on some paper where I was gonna draw the Mark of Eygo on it.
