HEY EVERYONE, I’LL BE AT EMERALD CITY COMIC CON! I’M AT TABLE 208 WHICH IS LISTED AS CAUTIONARY FABLES.
I’m sharing the book with all the fine folks above. We are right near the skybridge and the entrance. We will be right near Iron Circus Comics and Fantagraphics. Come buy and grab some books. I’ll be there all weekend except for when I do a signing at the Darkhorse booth or at panels. Here’s my con plan.
Thrusday:
3:00 – 3:45 – Signing at the Darkhorse booth with Yishan Li.
5:30 – 6:30 – Thoughout the WhedonVerse: 20 Years in the Making (Room TCC 303):
Dark Horse is thrilled to celebrate 20 years of Buffy and 15 years of Firefly! Dark Horse’s continuations of Joss Whedon’s cult favorites in the series Serenity, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel remain some of the most-talked-about comics in the industry. Join Whedonverse writers Chris Roberson (Serenity: No Power in the ’Verse), Christos Gage (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Seasons 10 and 11, Angel & Faith), Kel McDonald (Buffy: The High School Years—Glutton for Punishment), and Corinna Bechko (Angel Season 11) for an in-depth look at what it’s like to work on franchises with a cult-like following. WhedonCon’s Marisa Powers will impress fans with her knowledge of the Whedonverse as moderator of the panel!
Sunday:
12:00 – 1:00pm – Folklore in Comics (Room TCC 303):
From Baba Yaga to Yokai to King Arthur to the Sluagh, folklore provides fertile ground for modern comics. Join folklorists and comic creators Jim Zub (Wayward), Colin Lorimer (The Hunt), Kel McDonald (Misfits of Avalon), Brandon Seifert (Witch Doctor), and Zack Davisson (Kitaro) to talk about the unique crossroads created when ancient meets modern.
2:45 – 3:45 – How to Run an Anthology and Not Screw It Up (Room WSCC 604)
Join Kel McDonald (Cautionary Fables and Fairy Tales), Spike Trotman (Smut Peddler, New World), Taneka Stotts (Beyond, Elements), and Hope Nicholson (The Secret Loves of Geek Girls) as they go over running various independent comic anthologies. We talk about how we select stories, keep up with artists, and make sure all our i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed. This panel will also include information on how these projects were funded and how we market our current and future books.
